The newest drawing here is based off of the art of Tibetan gods. I’ve always found the Southeastern Asian nations to have very appealing and interesting art and architecture. This piece is in homage to that fascination.
To borrow from Chandra’s “Tibetan Art Hayagriva in his wrathful form “was popular with the horse-loving Tibetans and Mongols. Buddhagguhya’s commentary on the Mahavairocana Sutra says that he purifies the defilements of the mind with the speed of a galloping horse.”
Pretty awesome, huh?
In the actual paintings of Hayagriva, he’s far more menacing than the character I’ve derived. He has six armed arms, tiger skin, multiple feet and he tramples snakes. He also uses snakes for ornaments and also has horse heads rising out of disheveled hair.
Perhaps I’ll push the next one to those extremes. I’ve also decided to ink this traditionally and attack the drawing with bright colors. To appease my curiosity, I’ve also attached a version with more blue added, as it is easier on the eyes and a nice compliment to the orange tiger skin. I actually prefer this version, but the source material certainly does demand the red.

I love your work, do you do personal drawings and if you do how much?
